Downloading
the Survey Explorer demo
The Survey Explorer
demo (including the demo datasets) is 4.5 Megabytes and is
available to download as a self installing exe file. Once
downloaded and saved locally, double-clicking the installation
file will start the installation process and allows the user
to choose where the program and datafiles are actually installed.
To go to the demo
download page, click here.
Using
Survey Explorer
The Survey Explorer
has a very different 'look' from most Windows programs. Its
unique, intuitive interface allows quick access to all the
main features - buttons become active only when their use
is appropriate.
A short "Getting
Started" guide is available to demonstrate the main features
of the Survey Explorer. The guide is only 20 pages, includes
many clear screenshots and uses a tutorial style to familiarise
the user with the Survey Explorer's interface.
The "Getting
Started" guide is available in the Adobe Acrobat pdf
format by clicking
here.

Registering
your copy of Survey Explorer
You can only register
your copy of Survey Explorer if you already have a Software
Licence Agreement (SLA) with Memphis. Registration will licence
your copy of the Survey Explorer to you/your company and will
allow you to view other Survey Explorer datafiles (other than
the demo datafiles provided). Registration licences individual
computers (i.e. any person can run the software from that
PC).
You will need to provide this information to Memphis before
your copy of the program can be used to view data other than
the demo datasets. If you do not register the copy, it will
only open in demo mode and you will not be able to view your
own data.
You will need to run the registration
application from the computer you will be using to access
the Survey Explorer.
If you do not have
the registration program, you can download it by clicking
here.
Locate and run the file "Whoami.exe" which, if you
have already downloaded the demo, can be found in the same
location as your copy of Survey Explorer, usually C:\Program
files\Survey Explorer.
This will open a
screen with boxes for your name, email and Company address
(these details are stored in the memphisid.ini file, which
can be viewed in Notepad if you want to check them) - all
the users need to do is complete these details before clicking
on the SAVE button.
[The user's email
address provided could be the address of the contact person
to receive emails from Memphis, so does not need to be the
individual user's email.]
This will create
a file called <yourcompany><yourname>.TID which
is saved in the same location as the Survey Explorer.exe file
(chosen by the user during the installation process.)
[These files can be opened in Notepad, if the user needs reassurance
that they aren't sending any details they don't want to send].
The file needs to
be sent to licenses@memphissoftware.com . Clicking the EMAIL
button in the Registration Program will automatically open
your email program and create a message, already addressed
to Memphis and with the TID file attached. All the user needs
to do is click SEND to email the TID file, or you can attach
the file to an email manually and send it to licenses@memphissoftware.com
.
We will then add
the expiry date and return a file called (for example) yourcompany>_<yourname>.MLC
(which is an encrypted licence file) which needs to be placed
in the same folder as the Survey Explorer.exe file.
The Survey Explorer
will then open as normal using
START --> Programs
--> Survey Explorer --> Survey Explorer,
displaying the user's
details (including expiry date) for a few seconds on a pop
up window when Survey Explorer is opened. This info can be
viewed anytime by clicking on the M icon near the top right
corner of the Survey Explorer main screen.
